Putting the Music back in Musical Missionary, Introducing MM01: Between The Streets EP

I honestly can’t think of a better way to kick this label off than with a release from one of my biggest sources of inspiration, Darren DuVall. When I first met Darren, I was working as an engineer at Texas Instruments in Dallas back in 2002. After less than a year, I said “fuck this” and decided to quit my engineering career and get into something more creative and, ultimately, promote artists and musicians. If I had any idea that decision would land me where I am today, I would have made it much sooner. Thanks Darren!

Between The Streets EP by Darren DuVall on Musical Missionary

So here it is, Between The Streets EP. The double beauty of this release is that it features Darren and also that it covers such a wide range of musical styles. I really feel that there’s something on here for pretty much everybody – downtempo, house, breaks, lounge, chill, deep, sexy, funky – it’s all in there!

I chose the title track to be “Between Te Streets” because it’s too damn beautiful. I think it gives off what I love most about music, good vibrations. Although you don’t get too many releases these days that highlight downtempo music like Between The Streets, I felt this just had to be the title track. You’ll know what I mean when you hear it.

The second track on the release, “Slow”, brings Darren’s mastery of the deep closer to the dance floor with some deep house. This track is a great set warmer that puts listeners in the right mood to seek the warmth of other bodies. Mmmm… warm bodies.

Track 3, “Freedom In An Urban Cell” covers a lot of ground, elegantly I must say. It could be house+breakbeat or breakbeat+house. Either way, Darren’s percussive genius shines through in this track.

The final track to round out the EP is “Everyone’s Groove”. The best way I can describe this one is lounge breaks with a hint of tripped-out effects. Sorry, that’s all I got on this one. But it just HAD to be released, so we added it as a bonus!

There you have it folks, MM01: Between The Streets EP by Darren DuVall. Check out the tracks and leave some feedback. And if you like the music, or if you just want to support Musical Missionary, buy the music from your favorite online music store. It’s available on pretty much all of them.

Musical Missionary, born again

Here we go again! This time there’s a lot more to Musical Missionary than before. It feels like all of my past lives are coming together in a synergistic way. Musical Missionary was always intended to be a force for good, and now it finally is.

In the past, Musical Missionary has acted as a music label, party promoter and philanthropist, but never all at the same time. Well it has all finally come together. Label… check! Parties… coming soon! Philanthropy… just getting started!

On that note, I’d like to (re)introduce Musical Missionary, the label…
